PEERS Program
The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (P.E.E.R.S), is an evidence-based social skills training program first developed at UCLA by Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson. The program aims to coach and teach students social skills, and improve students’ abilities to develop meaningful relationships. At John Grant, our special education technicians provide workshops in:
- Appropriate conversation skills
- Finding common interests with peers
- Appropriate use of humour
- Entering and exiting peer conversations
- Handling teasing
- Choosing appropriate friends
- How to handle disagreements
- Good sportsmanship skills
- How to have a get together/hang-outs
- And much more
