MEQ Programs / Adult Special Needs

Challenges Program (DÉFIS)

The Challenges Program is an evolution of past initiatives with the refocus of meeting the needs of our adult student population. Generally, students in this program are from 16 to 21 years old, who receive continued work training, along with exposure to essential and practical life skills that they need to function autonomously as an adult.

The program focuses on Basic Subjects and Social Integration. In the competencies section students are taught:

  • To develop basic mathematical skills in everyday situations
  • To develop basic time, money and space management skills
  • To adopt moral values favouring responsible behaviour in society

In the social integration section, the focus is on helping students to adopt personal and social behaviours enabling them to be relatively autonomous in society, and to develop a functional skill and acquire behaviours compatible with the expectations of a work environment.
